This is especially true in architectural photography. However, some photographers hold grandiose launch parties for exhibitions of their work, while others are commissioned thousands of pounds for a 5 page spread in a magazine. How do they get so good?
The simple answer is that they’ve been taught how to do it. Sure they may have a natural artistic flair for architectural photography, but natural talent can only take you so far before you are limited by your skill with the equipment. Anybody who takes their architectural photography seriously will seek out a tutor at some point, which leads to an excellent earning opportunity for those with the relevant experience in the field.
You don’t need to be creative genius, just reasonably competent in architectural photography enough to pass on your experience to talented beginners. Colleges and places of further education are always looking to organise courses in architectural photography for people of all ability levels, and in most areas there is a shortage of suitable tuition.
